I think every girl reaches a point in her life when she realizes that buying cheap make-up and facial cleansers are just not going to cut it. However being 21, not having a career and going back to school in the fall I just cannot afford to to spend a lot of money on everything. I bet a lot of you guys relate, so here is my list of beauty products I feel are necessary to splurge on:
- Make-Up Remover: I have uber sensitive skin so I always spend extra money on what I'm putting directly on my face. I'm currently using Bioderma Sensibio H20 (for sensitive skin). It's really effective in taking off my make-up and I love how gentle it is.
- Lotion: Again with the whole sensitive skin thing. During puberty I never used lotion because I thought if I dried out my skin the blemishes would dry out. No dice. I got the chance to speak to a professional make-up artist who told me you should always use lotion because it keeps your skin hydrated. By drying out your skin you're basically telling your skin it's thirsty and it makes your oil production double. If you really can't use lotion you should at least use toner because it balances your skins PH levels and helps keep it calm. Remember to always give your skin at least 3 weeks to get used to new products sometimes your skin will break out for a little while during the transition period. Right now I'm using Elizabeth Arden Millenium Day Renewal Emulsion Lotion.
- Mascara: Okay. Hands up if you saw this one coming. I'm willing to spend a lot of money on my mascara, I love having dramatic eyes and in my opinion your lashes are the first step. But you guys already knew that! I'm always on the hunt for great mascara, see some of my favourites (old and new) here.
I hope you guys got some good tips from this, feel free to tell me what you splurge on, is anything the same?
